The British Beauty Council is pleased to appoint Josh Wood as its Vice Chairman. Wood’s experience characterises the value of the hair and beauty industry for building a unique, exciting and successful career.
From starting on the salon floor as a young apprentice to building one of the UK’s most recognisable global hair care brands and services, Wood’s insights will help to drive the Council’s objectives particularly in areas of talent and growth.
Wood plays a vital and hands-on role in his brand which will undoubtedly translate to ensuring the Council is executing initiatives that will directly sustain a thriving future of beauty.
On the appointment Millie Kendall OBE, CEO of the Council says: ‘I am delighted to be working more closely with Josh, who has supported the Council since its inception and I am also honoured to call a friend. As the organisation continues to grow, his expertise, advice and guidance will be invaluable.’
In the organisation’s most recent Value of Beauty report, hair and beauty services are shown to directly contribute £5.8bn to the UK’s GDP, the highest of all sub-sectors. This only proves the importance of tapping into Wood’s expertise as a salon-owner, having experienced first-hand the unique challenges facing this category.
The announcement comes as Wood has recently launched into Australia’s Mecca with both products and a salon in the retailer’s new store. In an interview about this move, Jo Horgan – Founder and co-CEO – said: ‘ ‘We were honestly jumping up and down when one of the world’s most talented and visionary colourists said yes to working with Mecca. Josh Wood is the king of colour, an absolute genius.’
