Named ‘Gen A-Z’, the cohesive resource enables young people to grasp the complexities of skincare and make educated decisions that nurture developing skin.

The release comes as a recent report by Pai Skincare found that 1 in 4 tweens use products like Retinol in their daily routines- an ingredient that, if used incorrectly, can lead to redness, itching, and irritation.

What’s more, the report found that 46% of tweens are actively using multiple skincare products each week, 55% of tweens say they don’t check product labels, and 41% say that they listen to influencers when choosing what to put on their skin.

Designed by leading dermatologists and beauty founders, the guide aims to demystify skincare for teens and reduce misinformation. Something that the Council has long been tackling via its Creator Collective Skin School programme which is designed to educate content creators on the fundamentals of skin health.

Both initiatives reinforce the British Beauty Council’s commitment to ensuring everyone can access informative and trustworthy beauty content, something that is becoming increasingly challenging as a consequence of social media.

‘Gen A-Z’ covers topics like sun protection, ingredients to avoid, and managing breakouts. It also includes an interactive quiz, embedded playlist and advice from influencers and content creators.

It’s all about taking it back to the basics, learning what young skin needs and building a routine that grows with you. The British Beauty Council is dedicated to raising the reputation of the beauty industry and ensuring people of all ages are educated.’

Looking ahead, The Respect Project is aiming to bring the guide to schools across the UK, creating workshops and other educational resources to help young people access the skincare information that they need.
