Announcing two leadership updates, Estée Lauder Companies’ longstanding President, Sue Fox, will retire in 2025 with Pernilla Nyberg welcomed as replacement.
Following a 30 year career across various roles at Estée Lauder Companiesin various roles, Fox will step down on June 30, 2025. The outgoing President will support Pernilla Nyberg – newly appointed Senior Vice President & General Manager – who starts the role in January.
Fox has led the company’s second most established market since January 2020, initially joining the region as Senior Vice President & General Manager for the UK and Ireland.
Prior to moving to the UK, she served in a number of key global roles including as General Manager of the Japan affiliate where she oversaw five consecutive quarters of net sales growth, focusing on emerging trends across categories, channel segments and demographics.
Sue Fox made history in the company by being the first woman to serve the company in all four of her most recent leadership roles. And, her commitment to DEI within the organisation led to a number of ‘firsts’ for the organisation. Fox introduced safe space conversations, multiple new Employee Resource Groups, accessible ways of working and she was a highly committed advocate for the Breast Cancer Campaign.
In a statement, ELC said: ‘A dynamic and inclusive global leader, Sue’s team-building ability has been integral to the success of each of the regions and affiliates that she has overseen. In the UK and Ireland, she built and led a truly exceptional team of experts who have served the region with unmatched expertise and dedication.’
Following this news, the company has announced that Pernilla Nyberg will be appointed as SVP & General Manager.
Nyberg previously held a leadership role in the U.K. & Ireland region from 2012 to 2016 working closely with the Regional President as Vice President, Regional CFO and Strategy Leader. In the interim, she worked as SVP of Global Finance & Strategy in NewYork.
Before her time at ELC, Nyberg led on several European regions for Nike – holding various positions over 15 years at the footwear brand. She began her career as a tax and accounting consultant in Germany, with roles most notably at accountancy firm, Ernst & Young.
‘Pernilla’s wealth of cross-functional experience, deep understanding of our business and brands, combined with her strong leadership and ability to collaborate across the globe promises to usher in an exciting new time for the region while leveraging the great strengths of the UK&I team,’ said ELC.
