Knowing that hairdressing, health, and beauty salons have consistently had the highest number of retail businesses across UK high streets for the last decade – according to Local Data Company – we want to spotlight the value of the beauty industry for communities up and down the country.

It is simple to invite your MP this British Beauty Week. All you have to do is:

1. ‘Find your MP’ using the Parliament website – Search.
2. Write an invitation to your MP to visit your business.
3. Follow up with your MP in October to confirm their visit on 24th October.
4. Welcome your MP on 24th October and share on socials, tagging @britishbeautycouncil and @britishbeautyweek.
5. Follow up with your MP in November to ensure your asks and concerns remain fresh in their mind.

Spotlighting the importance of what you do to policy makers is vital for the future of our sector, ensuring the beauty industry is front of mind when MPs are feeding into legislation. By inviting an MP into your business this British Beauty Week, you can:

• Highlight your business’ impact on your local high street and the vital services you offer.
• Showcase our industry’s strength and demonstrate career opportunities including apprenticeships, skills and training.
• Shine a light on your hard work; help your MP understand how businesses like yours are the lifeblood of our high streets, helping people feel like the best version of themselves.
• Share your concerns about issues that matter to you.

On 29th September, the British Beauty Council will be hosting a digital workshop with IIAA and Professional Beauty designed to take you through all of the steps you need to take to invite your MP this British Beauty Week.

You will also hear from a salon owner who has directly benefitted from opening her doors to a local MP, helping to bring the initiative to life.
