British Beauty Week 2026 is just around the corner and we want you to be a central part of the largest nationwide celebration of our incredible industry.

This year, we are inviting you to open your doors to your local MP on 16 October during British Beauty Week, highlighting the importance of hair, beauty and personal care to local communities.

The beauty industry contributes £28.3 billion to the economy and employ 595,000 people. With hairdressing, health and beauty salons ranking consistently as the highest number of retail businesses across the UK high streets for the last decade. This said, many businesses, including small businesses, face particular challenges that can be useful to share with politicians using opportunities such as this.

This is your time to showcase to your MP just how vital the hair and beauty industry is.

By opening your doors, you can:

• Highlight your businesses’ impact on your local high street or community and the vital services you offer
• Demonstrate career opportunities, including apprenticeships, skills and training
• Shine a light on your hard work and help your MP understand how businesses like yours are the lifeblood of our high streets, daily helping people feel and look their best
• Share your concerns about issues that matter to you and ask for support

Getting involved is very simple. All you have to do is:

1. Find your MP using the Parliament website – Search
2. Write an invitation to your MP to visit your business, using this template
3. Let us know if you’ve organised an MP visit by emailing bbw@britishbeautycouncil.com
4. Follow up with your MP in October to confirm their visit on or around 16 October
5. Welcome your MP and share on socials on 16 October, tagging @britishbeautycouncil
6. Follow up with your MP in November to ensure your asks and concerns remain fresh in their mind
