The All-Party Parliamentary Group for Beauty, Hair and Wellbeing brings together MPs and Peers from across Parliament to champion the beauty industry, discuss salient developments and challenges, and identify areas where legislators and policymakers can support the sector.

This session on the Impact of Beauty will explore the beauty industry’s social, cultural and economic impact on communities, towns and cities across Britain.

First, the key findings of the latest Oxford Economics ‘Impact of Beauty’ report will be presented to MPs and Peers. These highlight beauty’s positive effect on self-esteem, creativity and mental wellbeing. The report also contains new geospatial data demonstrating the significance of beauty’s presence on British high streets.

The invited speakers and attending Parliamentarians will then discuss the report’s themes of mental health and wellbeing; the role of professional services such as salons and barbershops as spaces for social connection; and the contribution of the beauty industry to local economies.
