Skcin: Skin Prevention Added to England’s Curriculum

by | Nov 24, 2020

British Beauty Council Affiliate Skcin have successfully campaigned for sun safety education to be mandatory in primary schools in England, under the new PSHE curriculum.

Over the past 10 years, Skcin and their supporters have been campaigning to have sun safe education to be made mandatory in schools.

Sun safety education is now mandatory in primary schools in England under the new PSHE curriculum. Since 2013, Skcin have worked with thousands of schools across the UK, educating almost 750,00 children and their families about sun safety through their Sun Safe Schools national accreditation programme. After 10 years of lobbying government, in September 2020 sun safety education was finally made a mandatory part of the new PSHE curriculum in primary schools in England.

The charity are expecting a bumper year in 2021 for their free Sun Safe Schools accreditation programme which provides primary schools with comprehensive tools and resources to educate children and their families about sun safety in a fun and engaging way – empowering them to look after themselves in the sun.
