The benefits of maple leaf extract on the skin

by | Nov 13, 2018

The British Beauty Council reads with interest that maple leaf extract could become a new magic bullet for skin.

Researchers at the University of Rhode Island have found that the extract can block the release of the elastase enzyme, which is behind the breakdown of the elastin protein which keeps skin plump and youthful.

Previous research also found that maple leaf extract can protect skin from inflammation, which ages it, as well as lighten age spots and pigmentation. The scientists think that the extract could end up as plant-based Botox, in skin supplements or topicals.
