September Event Highlights

The British Beauty Council had an action-packed September filled with fantastic events celebrating the best of beauty.

London Beauty Week 11-15 September

We proudly hosted the inaugural London Beauty Week in partnership with Covent Garden, a weeklong event filled with in store experiences, exclusive competitions and an experiential beauty playground like no other! The event attracted hundreds of attendees to the beauty quarter showcasing the support and interest for both high street and high-end beauty and highlighting the important contribution beauty makes to the economy.

The event also featured a series of panel discussions exploring the latest insights on beauty trends. Topics included ‘Sustainability is not a Slogan,’ ‘Tech in Beauty’ and ‘Myth Busting Beauty’. We are excited to continue collaborating with our industry leading panelists after the success of these sessions, the proceeds of which were donated to our London Beauty Week charity partner Beauty Banks, alongside product donations from attendees.

As part of London Beauty Week and paying homage to the history of creativity and entrepreneurship in British beauty, we also launched Next British Beauty Brand. The competition aimed to discover an upcoming pioneer in the beauty industry who presented a dynamic product and a carefully considered business plan. Our expert panel of judges announced Ivana Iesini, founder of premium skincare brand Albiva, as the winner. Ivana will now receive an array of support including mentorship from some of our judges and a prime retail pitch in Covent Garden to continue building Albiva so watch this space!

Olympia Beauty 29-30th September

September is an exciting month for the beauty industry as the annual Olympia Beauty trade show takes place. This year, Olympia Beauty celebrated its 15th anniversary as the UK’s biggest autumn exhibition for beauty professionals and students. The show offered engaging experiences such as the one of a kind Salon & Spa owners club offering bespoke networking opportunities, the Olympia Beauty Stage and Education Club featuring presentations from industry icons and over 500 exhibits from the biggest beauty brands.

The British Beauty Council was delighted to attend and collaborate with our patron Treatwell to bring to life a new live stage at Olympia Beauty. Highlights included the “How to become a Charity” talk, a live henna tattoo demonstration and a panel discussion on “Patient Safety” led by our very own Millie Kendall MBE. With such a diverse range of sessions on offer over the two days, the event offered unique learning opportunities and a buzzing atmosphere to help businesses grow.

Olympia Beauty 2019 also crowned the best of up-and-coming beauty talent in a series of intense competitions. The National Massage Championships, Brush Wars, Lash Games, Nailympia and Scratch Shoot Out competition drew competitors from around the world to London. The show was the place to be for gaining recognition for essential beauty skills and for being inspired as an attendee. We would encourage students and professionals alike to find out more and to mark your calendars for 2020!
