What motivated you to become an Advisory Board Member with the British Beauty Council?
I have enormous respect for the professionals who work tirelessly to not only make their clients look better, but most importantly feel better – and any initiative that raises the profile and standing of the sector is to be applauded. The wellbeing associated with a professional service/treatment is often undervalued, as are those undertaking these vital roles, and it is imperative that there is a wider and more general understanding of the value the sector adds – not just in monetary terms – but in its importance to clients’ wellbeing, communities and high streets. The British Beauty Council is working to raise the profile and awareness of this undervalued and often unrecognised sector and this is critical to its continued growth and success.
What excites you most about the British beauty industry?
Having spent 30+ years in the industry, it is without question, the people that make it so exciting. Skill, entrepreneurial spirit, incredible commitment and the enthusiasm of those who work tirelessly at their craft – day in and day out – make this a fantastic sector to be part of. Always willing to adapt and change, embrace new trends and techniques, the industry as a whole is hugely supportive of one another and willing to share advice and experience which makes it a really great place to be. And with so many different opportunities available to anyone who is prepared to work hard and continue learning, the career options are unlimited.
