The most highly anticipated announcement in the hair calendar came last week, as industry-leading hairdressing magazine Creative HEAD unveiled ten ‘Hair Icon’ category finalists for its 2019 Most Wanted Awards.
The accolade, previously held by industry greats Josh Wood (2016), Sam McKnight (2017) and Eugene Souleiman (2018), celebrates the most inspirational hairdresser of the year. Nominations are submitted by an esteemed panel of hair, beauty, fashion and media experts, and those shortlisted are invited to submit a Hair Icon entry, which is then assessed and scored by a separate judging panel.
This year’s champion will be revealed – alongside winners of a further 13 awards for UK and Irish salon stylists, their teams and session hair professionals – at the contest’s prestigious Grand Final on September 2. On the same night, The It List (Creative HEAD Magazine’s accompanying competition for UK and Irish hairdressers aged 30 and under, which is now in its tenth year) will crown six young stars of session and salon. Widely regarded as a barometer of the talent of tomorrow, the platform has produced success stories such as Chris Appleton, Leigh Keates and Sophia Hilton.
Congratulations to ???
Sally Brooks, Adam Reed, Errol Douglas MBE, Sam McKnight, Eugene Souleiman, Nicola Clarke, Antony Turner, Sophia Hilton, Zöe Irwin and Josh Wood – a stunning representation of the UK talent at the top of the hairdressing profession.
