The return of the perm!

by | May 28, 2019

A report in The Guardian by Leah Harper reveals that the perm is having a revival, and while we’ve chosen to illustrate this story with Barbra Streisand’s iconic curls, photographed in 1983 – the new perm is a softer version of the Eighties look.

In truth, the perm has never really gone away: last year it resurfaced as a good method for holding a soft wave/curl in hair, and the latest reincarnation – seen on s/s 19 catwalks for Celine and Gucci – is a similar soft look.

As The Guardian reports, perming techniques haven’t changed much over the years, although key ingredients have been modified to gentler alternatives. So this is definitely an option to consider if your personal eternal quest is for fuller, bouncier wavier hair.
