On Monday 4th February it was World Cancer Day, which is also a year to the day since SkcinĀ – a charity which raises awareness, promotes prevention and early detection of skin cancers – launched the national accreditation programme, MASCED (Melanoma and Skin Cancer Early Detection), a training programme for hair, health and beauty industry professionals.
In the past year over 8,000 professionals have registered with it nationwide, and SkcinĀ have received many reports of how accredited professionals have spotted both non-melanoma and melanoma skin cancers, putting their new found knowledge into action.
āThe MASCED Accreditation programme is a unique and innovative addition to the British beauty Industryā, says Skcin CEO Marie Tudor. āIt harnesses the power of the British beauty professional, enabling them to become powerful advocates in the fight against skin cancer and save livesā.
