Pantone Colour of the Year

by | Dec 30, 2020

Every year, Pantone reveal the Colour of the Year. For 2021, Pantone have named PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray + PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating as their combined Colour of the Year.

What is Colour of the Year?

Pantone’s Colour of the Year has influenced product development and purchasing decisions in multiple industries, or over 20 years.

Pantone report that the Pantone Colour of the Year selection process “requires thoughtful consideration and trend analysis. To arrive at the selection each year, Pantone’s colour experts at Pantone Color Institute comb the world looking for new colour influences. This can include the entertainment industry and films in production, traveling art collections and new artists, fashion, all areas of design, popular travel destinations, as well as new lifestyles, playstyles, and socio-economic conditions. Influences may also stem from new technologies, materials, textures, and effects that impact color, relevant social media platforms and even upcoming sporting events that capture worldwide attention”.

“How perfect of Pantone to give us two fabulous new colours for 2021. Illuminating yellow being an appropriate tone that will lift your spirits and offer hope, happiness and fun. You can pair this with the Ultimate Gray that will look elegant and formal without being too glamorous. Having the Illuminating Yellow and Ultimate Gray is a great combination. To achieve this look I would suggest applying the Fudge Professional PaintboxGold Coast which works best over pre-lightened hair.” Tracy Hayes, Global Colour Ambassador at Fudge Professional
