Hairdependence Day

by | Jul 3, 2020

Today July 4th marks the day that our hairdressing and barber industry reopen. A £6.3 billion industry, with a direct contribution to GDP of £3.9 billion, employment of around 150,000 people working in more than 45 thousands businesses across the country. We applaud your patience, your hard work in getting your salons readily prepared with safety and hygiene at it’s forefront. Good luck today. May the cutting begin.

Our executive board member Josh Wood is amongst those opening his salon today.

“After over 3,600 virtual consultations during lockdown we are excited to be re-opening our Atelier doors on the 4th July and welcome back our clients.

We have spent considerable time thinking about how we can build the salon experience of the future which will keep our clients and our team safe. We have looked at what has happened in other countries for best practice and have worked directly with the government about how best for the industry to reopen safely.  We will continue to be there for our community with our online video consultations (www.joshwoodcolour.com) to give any expert colouring help and advice they may need.”

“I think there is going to be a lot of ‘Catch Up Colour’ when people have not been able to access expert advice and salon appointments for such a long period of time, so there is a lot to consider on your first appointment. However, I really hope the spirit of at home hair colour continues and people still have fun experimenting with colour that we have seen during lockdown with red, pink, purple we don’t lose in the grown up world of back to work. Colour is such a great way to express who we are and how we feel it’s great to shake things up” . Josh Wood
