What impact has COVID-19 had on spa, wellness and beauty businesses?

Without doubt the delay in reopening spas and the total confusion about the safety of close-contact services was devastating. The breath-taking ignorance shown about what spas and salons actually do and the importance of their role in the nation’s wellbeing and economy has illustrated that we have much work to do in raising the value perception of our industry and in lobbying the government for change.

Health is the new wealth and it should be available to everyone. Our industry’s highly skilled and trusted professionals can play a pivotal role promoting beauty, self-care, fitness and nutrition as well as providing life skills and the tools people need to promote positive mental health and resilience in the months ahead.

Our sector drives critical revenue as well as creating much needed jobs in hospitality, not to mention opportunities for women and talented new youngsters coming looking for meaningful careers.

Spa and wellness professionals are proud contributors to the diverse and talented British beauty sector. The service levels and professionalism of the UK industry are envied all over the world and we will not only have a positive impact on the economy, but will also contribute to the forging of future trade agreements, creating further job opportunities and revenue.

How will www.europeanspamagazine.com support our spa and wellness industry going forward?

I am honoured to have joined the British Beauty Council’s Advisory Board to ensure spa and wellness professionals are properly recognised and can work together ensure our industry receives the support and recognition it deserves.

Undoubtedly, spas and the wider beauty industry are the ‘second frontline’ and there is much we can do to help people live healthier, happier lives and provide vital wellbeing support and preventative health services as we work on a national recovery in the months ahead.

The team at European Spa are proud to champion the UK’s growing industry and all its talented professionals, so we welcome everyone to visit our website and enjoy all the incredible resources there.
