British Beauty Council introduces next phase: Growth

by | Jan 23, 2022

On Monday 17th January, the British Beauty Council announced to its key stakeholders the next phase of the organisation’s roadmap, moving from valuing the industry, to focusing on its growth.

The British Beauty Council (BBCo) was founded in 2018, with the purpose to elevate the reputation of the industry, enhance education and encourage innovation within the sector. Three years on, the BBCo has set out its vision for the next three years to come, with a refresh of its strategic pillars, to focus on: Policy and Influence, Talent, Growth and Environmental and Social Governance.

The organisation’s shift in focus comes after the BBCo has achieved countless goals since it’s conception. Speaking to the auditorium, Minister for Small Business, Consumers and Labour Markets, Paul Scully MP spoke of the industry’s economic, cultural and social prevalence, and spotlighted the important and influential work the BBCo has done, and continues to do, for the personal care sector.

Furthermore, during the exclusive stakeholder meeting, Chief Operating Officer, Helena Grzesk MBE, and Chief Policy Officer, Victoria Brownlie, showcased the initiatives, campaigns and political achievements of the Council during 2021. This includes, but is not limited to: the formation of the dedicated personal care team within the UK Government; the establishment of the Sustainable Beauty Coalition; key collaborations with affiliates such as the British Science Association and the Mental Health Foundation; consumer facing campaigns such as ‘Oh Hello Beauty’ and ‘Bring Back Beauty’ to regenerate the high street; the launch of the Career Insights podcast series; plus much more.

Introducing the next phase, Millie Kendall OBE spoke of the BBCo’s focus on ‘Growth’ – both domestically and globally. With an overarching aim of developing a sustainable future for the fast-growing personal care sector, this vital ‘Growth’ period will utilise the BBCo’s established positive influence to affect change, cultivate industry investment and secure our sector’s presence as a world leader in hair, beauty and wellness.

Indeed, the next phase of the BBCo looks to be the most exciting yet.
