Throughout 2024, the British Beauty Council continued to work with industry and government to raise the reputation of the sector. Working across focus areas including talent, trade, sustainability and ESG – the organisation has continued to support the industry holistically.
Here are just a few key areas of work that defined another groundbreaking year:
Reports and Insights
It published two landmark economic reports in 2024 to arm the industry with the facts they need to prove the importance of the sector and the consequences of not supporting its development.
The third edition of the Value of Beauty reinforced the growth potential of the sector, despite economic headwinds, whilst Taxing Beauty uncovered the forecasted challenges caused by new fiscal measures under the Government’s most recent budget.
These will be used by the Council to lobby policy makers on actionable areas of change to ensure our industry is future-proofed and receives the recognition it deserves.
A Beauty Industry That Looks Like You
The Council’s ‘A Beauty Industry That Looks Like You’ research initiative saw more than 4000 people who engage with the beauty industry complete a census designed to uncover the true make-up of the sector.
The findings were compiled into a report which uncovers the key areas that must be addressed to ensure our sector is accessible and nurturing to all. These are education and accessibility for those living with neurodiversity, enabling increased career progression for diverse groups and increased representation for those with visible differences and disabilities.
British Beauty Week 2024
British Beauty Week returned with a bang in 2024, doubling its reach year on year with the most nationwide activations to date. From the British Beauty Council’s Trade Hub to Hada Labo’s influencer activation in Glasgow and a wellness festival in York, the beauty industry came together in a way it never has done before.
