The Industry – A Life in Hairdressing Film

by | Jun 11, 2020

At a time when the hair industry is weathering significant change and transformation, Director Adam Slama and Producer Joanna Andersen have released a candid but poignant short film closely following industry professionals and their journeys.

The film documents seven hair professionals and the paths they have followed in their careers – from Anthony Turner, a high-profile session artist styling for Prada and a boundary-pushing salon owner cultivating a massive social media following – Sophia Hilton – to a barber on a mission to promote cultural reform, Mark Maciver. Including some of the industry’s influential experts, whose daily lives are impacted and shaped by the industry’s creative and entrepreneurial talent. It also features several British Beauty Council Board members, including our CEO, Millie Kendall MBE, Director Catherine Handcock, and Advisory Board members, Sophia Hilton and Sam McKnight.

The film has been created with the aim of enlightening audiences on the immense opportunity, diversity and creativity available in a hairdressing career. In addition to the documentary, there is an entire platform dedicated to this exciting career path, the various routes available, the industry’s amazing community and the latest in news, training and development.
