The growing expectation of ethically and environmentally-conscious businesses is driving beauty brands to be more sustainably innovative.

Mintel have looked into recent skincare innovations from around the World, which has led to the creation of a list of sustainable solutions which Mintel believe facial skincare brands need to implement in response to the growing consumer demand.

 

What do Mintel suggest

  • Offer refillable packaging
    • Refillable packaging helps to reduce overconsumption as well as to promote a circular economy, and a new element of value.

 

  • Upcycle from organic waste
    • Using organic waste can lower the cost of goods, which makes it an even more compelling reason for brands to adopt this eco-friendly practice.

  • Be carbon neutral
    • Mintel describe carbon neutrality as a holistic approach towards reducing a brands’ impact on the environment, and the climate. Looking at the entire supply chain, increasing numbers of indie brands are introducing carbon neutral products, which are aiming to offer both benefits for consumers and the planet.

 

  • Water saving formulations
    • As consumers strive to live more sustainably, brands are innovating with water-free formulations to help with the effort. Brands have an opportunity to bring innovation to this new category, which satisfy the consumer  need to do more and be better in ways that are environmentally and ethically conscious.
