Nail the new season polishes

by | Sep 23, 2019

Is it just us or is there a hint of autumn in the air? Neon polishes are already starting to look a bit jaded, so what’s the polish trend for the new season?

Nail experts are predicting the nail trend to reflect the colours of the season: rusts and paprikas, suede greys, deep berry and metallics. Even coffee-coloured neutrals, mauve and light brown will be hot. New Beauty report that celebrity manicurist Mazz Hanna’s favourite shade for autumn 2019 is burnt orange: “it’s the perfect transitional shade because it can play in both the summer and autumn seasons” she says.

Another colour we’ll be seeing lots of next season is luxurious purple in dark to light tones. “Rich purple shades inspired by amethyst geodes from Uruguay are another hot autumn/winter colour” says Hanna. “Think of a slightly lighter shade of the OPI cult favourite Lincoln Park After Dark, but instead of appearing almost black when applied, look for something with a slightly softer purple hue like OPI Good Girls Gone Plaid”.

Metallic emerald is another colour we can expect to see everywhere. “It’s an excellent colour to complement the lacy black ‘romantic grunge’ and leopard looks seen on the autumn/winter 2019 runways for shows by Marc Jacobs and Alexander McQueen”, says Hanna.

Then there are the neutral classic autumn staples – grey, navy blue and eggplant. “These colours are timeless, go with just about everything and are the LBD of the nail world”, explains Hanna.
