LEGENDARY HAIR STYLIST SAM MCKNIGHT LAUNCHES ‘REIMAGINED’

A NFT COLLECTION TO CELEBRATE RE-ISSUE OF HIS SELL-OUT BOOK, HAIR BY SAM MCKNIGHT

When ‘Hair By Sam McKnight’, an anthology of super stylist Sam McKnight’sunparalleled career in fashion, celebrity and editorial, was released in 2017, it sold out. To celebrate the long-awaited reprint, McKnight has partnered with expert Web3 brands, WEYU and ZILLIQA to launch a limited-edition collection of NFTs showcasing three iconic fashion moments from the book.

HAIR BY SAM MCKNIGHT REIMAGINED NFT COLLECTION

McKnight’s NFT series consists of three digital artworks featuring his model muses and long-term collaborators Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Gigi Hadid. McKnight commissioned Helsinki-based artist Laura Laine to re-imagine each of the three iconic hair images from the newly re-issued book in her signature, surrealist hand-drawn style.

McKnight says, “I’m someone who looks forward. I embrace the new and find change exciting because it provides an opportunity to learn and grow. The fashion industry is evolving fast, and I see NFTs as an exciting new stage for creators like me to showcase their work. I’m thrilled with the way Laura has placed hair at the heart of each NFT in such a bold, creative and fun way.”

Only 297 ‘Hair by Sam McKnight: Reimagined’ NFTs will go on sale on the 1st of August at 6pm CET/ 12pm EST. Each NFT costs £200 / $240 with proceeds donated to Beauty Banks, a charity close to McKnight’s heart that helps support people in the UK living in Hygiene Poverty. Buyers will receive their NFT alongside a copy of the re-issued Hair By Sam McKnight. In addition, the collection will feature a unique array of digital and physical utility for the holders including rare signed book copies and prints, exclusive event access, gifts and more.

Each unique NFT can be purchased using Credit Card or Cryptocurrency on WEYU at 6pm UTC / 12pm EST Aug 1st. The ‘Hair by Sam McKnight’ book will also be made available to buy at the same time for £80, exclusively at sammcknight.com

NFTs to unveil on WEYU, powered by Zilliqa

The ‘Hair By Sam McKnight: Reimagined’ NFT series will launch exclusively on WEYU – an inclusive, creator-driven multi-chain NFT platform and marketplace.

McKnight says, “WEYU is an ecosystem that was established for creatives so they were the obvious choice to partner with. They get artists’ work discovered, but they also make the somewhat confusing world of NFTs more accessible. Zilliqa is a carbon neutral initiative, making them also the perfect partner.”

WEYU COO Caroline Johnova said, “Since the beginning, WEYU has been committed to facilitating entry into the NFT industry by developing innovative, user-friendly tools & platforms that encourage everyone to embrace the Web3 future. Together with Zilliqa, we are very excited to push the boundaries of creativity, art and blockchain technology, empowering creators and storytellers like McKnight to enter the world of NFTs.

Speaking about the partnership, Sandra Helou, Zilliqa’s Head of Metaverse & NFTs, said “Zilliqa is proud to add WEYU to our constantly expanding ecosystem. We share the view that NFTs have tremendous potential as a vehicle for both artistic expression and innovation. Our partnership will help us make significant strides in powering the creator economy and contribute to the greater adoption of NFTs as a whole. Our collaboration with Sam McKnight, the legendary hair stylist who has worked with global icons such as Kate Moss, Lady Gaga and Naomi Campbell, is proof that the NFT space is rapidly growing across multiple industries, and that mainstream adoption is inevitable.”

Hair by Sam McKnight Reimagined NFTs go on sale 1st August 2022 at 6 pm CET exclusively on WEYU.

Hair by Sam McKnight, the book is on sale from 2 August at hairbysammcknight.com
