Guido Palau set to launch new book #hairtests

by | Dec 4, 2021

Guido Palau is one of the most prominent and influential hairstylists of our generation, and is set to launch his new book on Saturday 4th December.

Guido Palau began his career in hairdressing in the early 1980s, at Vidal Sassoon in London. Following this, in the ’90s he worked alongside renowned photographer David Sims; he then began to see his work featured in fashion publication The Face, which captured the attention of designer Calvin Klein. As well as booking Guido for advertising campaigns featuring Kate Moss and James King, Calvin Klein also booked the rising hairstylist to work on his 1994 showcase, and soon after he secured engagements with clients such as Versace. You’ll have seen Guido’s work across mediums, recently he worked on the British Vogue November cover announcing Adele’s return, alongside Pat McGrath, Edward Enninful, Steven Meisel, Jin Soon Choi, Ryuta Sayama and Mary Howard.

Guido’s latest book, titled #HAIRTESTS, is a “sketchbook of ideas” which features iPhone portraits taken by Guido that spotlight various models wearing his creations. Live on Beauty Papers Mag Instagram, Guido spoke with former-assistants Syd Hayes, Anthony Turner, and Holli Smith, about their careers, the beauty of working in the industry, the upcoming book release and much more.

“The idea behind #HairTests is to test myself, test the viewer about what’s beautiful, and change people’s idea of beauty,” Guido tells British Vogue.

#HairTests will be available from December 4th at Dover Street Market in London, New York, Los Angeles, and Tokyo.
