Founder of This Works and ex-Vogue Health & Beauty Director launches Beauty Pie aromatherapy oils

by | May 4, 2023

Kathy Phillips, British Beauty Council Ambassador and aromatherapy expert, has formulated three essential oil blends in collaboration with Beauty Pie

Designed to combat the stresses of modern life, the aromatherapy blends focus on treating burn out, sluggishness, a compromised immune system, and lack of energy.

This collaboration is Beauty Pie’s first foray into an aromatherapy-based offering and, who better to formulate with than Kathy Phillips?

Phillips carved a unique space for herself in the saturated beauty journalism environment via her expert voice on all things wellness, before founding This Works – a cornerstone of the British wellness market.

In a recent blog post for Beauty Pie, she said: ‘As someone who has known the power of aromatherapy for many years, I have always wanted to share my discovery. I think essential oils keep me well and – at their very best – come from pure, natural ingredients. I launched my own brand – This Works – in 2003 to create aromatherapy products that felt cool and modern and in-tune with our hectic world.’

From the cult Deep Sleep Pillow Spray to This Work’s multitasking In Transit Camera Close-up primer, moisturiser and mask, Phillips has been the brain behind a number of now-famous efficacious and wellbeing-enhancing products. And, she continues to make her mark via four new Beauty Pie launches: Reboot, Firewall, Power Down and Power Up aromatherapy blends.

Beauty Pie provides the perfect platform for Phillips to distribute on, allowing members to experience the indulgent essential oils for less than a third of the price than traditional retailers. The shower and bath oils – which can also be warmed between your hands and breathed in whenever you feel like it – are made in the UK on a base of coconut oil, which allows for quick absorption.

The collaboration comes at a time when demand for essential oils is growing rapidly across the globe. In fact, it’s reported that the European market is expected to reach USD 3.59 million by 2027, with a compound annual growth rate of 9.56 percent between 2020 and 2027.

But, it’s not just trend the founders are jumping on. Founder of Beauty Pie, Marcia Kilgore – who has also just been revealed as a British Beauty Council Ambassador – and Phillps’ relationship goes back two decades, and it’s on these building blocks that they chose to work together.

‘I have known Marcia for more than twenty years, since I interviewed her in New York at the opening of one of her first businesses, Bliss Spa,’ start Phillips, before saying: ‘Marcia has disrupted the beauty world on several occasions and has always been a visionary – so naturally I was thrilled when she asked if I would collaborate with Beauty Pie on their first aromatherapy oils.’
