Whilst aluminium itself is highly recyclable, aluminium tubes may hide plastic or composit layers which will compromise their recyclability.
If your tube is made of pure aluminium, then you should cut the tube in half, wash off any remaining product and place in curb side recycling. A mix of materials however means this may not be possible. If by chance, the tube has the has the #2 (HDPE) recycling code on it, check with your local recycler to confirm they are prepared to process #2 plastic toothpaste tubes before putting them in your curb side bin. You may be instructed to drop off the material at a collection centre. Alternatively Aluminium tubes can be recycled by dedicated specialists such as Recycle My Salon and Green Salon Collective. To find out more about their services, go to the tab on Professional Salon Recycle Programmes.
