David Walker-Smith, former Selfridges Executive, appointed British Beauty Week Ambassador ahead of October celebration

by | Jun 7, 2023

From the 26th-30th October, British Beauty Week will return for its fifth iteration spearheaded by David Walker-Smith, ex-Beauty Director and Co-Founder of Side by Side

Spearheading the strategy for the five-day celebration, Walker-Smith will work with the British Beauty Council’s team – and communication partner Mission PR – to harness ‘The Power of Beauty’.

Bringing together brands, consumers, press and policymakers, the tentpole celebration highlights the influence of British Beauty brands here and overseas by driving awareness around environmental, social and governance, growth and talent.

Following the success of last year’s 120-event-strong celebration, the Council will be working with brands to go behind the scenes of British beauty via a variety of IRL and digital events.

The Council is excited to be working with Walker-Smith on the strategy for this year’s event given his extensive knowledge of beauty retailing and innovative approach to business.

Whilst at Selfridges he was responsible for creating The Beauty Workshop – in-store luxury tanning, nails, brow and hair services – as well as the much emulated beauty advent calendar.

Following this, Walker-Smith revitalised Fenwick Bond St’s Beauty Hall throughout his tenure as Managing Director. And, he has since advised Brown Thomas, Fortnum and Mason, Intu, Flannels whilst also founding retail strategist Side by Side.

On becoming British Beauty Week Ambassador, David Walker-Smith said:

‘I am extremely proud to be part of the British Beauty Council and can’t wait to create and deliver Beauty Week in October with the team. We are set to make this year’s celebration the most representative, educational, and inspiring British Beauty Week to date. We can’t wait to see the industry come together to celebrate British beauty.’

If you are a brand, business, or media organisation interested in finding out more about how to get involved in British Beauty Week, the British Beauty Council will be hosting a digital event on the 15th June 2023 at 3pm to uncover what the industry can expect from this year’s celebration and share how beauty brands, magazines, and businesses can get involved.

You can sign up for the event here.

Mission PR will be handling all media requests concerning British Beauty Week. If you have any questions, contact bbw@thisismission.com.
