Spanning beauty technology, entrepreneurship, retail, services and communications, the British Beauty Council’s new Advisory Board and Board of Director appointments will help to drive the organisations’ vital roadmap

The British Beauty Council is welcoming a range of industry professionals to its network in order to drive forward its roadmap and achieve its overarching goals for industry.

Sue Fox, former-President of Estée Lauder UKI and Sarah Boyd, Managing Director of Sephora UK, are joining the Council’s Board of Directors. Their combined and extensive experience of the beauty industry and business will play an integral role in the formation of the Council’s strategies and activity throughout their tenure.

This comes as the Council makes new appointments to its Advisory Board. These are:

  • Tendai Moyo, co-founder and CEO of Ruka Hair
  • Laurence Newman, CEO and founder of The Beauty Tech Group (CurrentBody Skin, ZIIIP, Tria)
  • Margaret Dabbs OBE, CEO and founder of Margaret Dabbs London
  • Krishna Montgomery, founder of Monty PR
  • Rhea Cartwright, beauty brand consultant and columnist, Who What Wear
  • Harriet Westmoreland, celebrity nail artist
  • Amir Afshar & Insiya Jafferjee, co-founders of Shellworks

The Council’s Board of Directors provide a vital role in offering specific guidance and support to the Council. The Advisory Board offers strategic insights to the organisation in order to propel cross-industry campaigns, policy change and awareness. It will work to support the success of activity under four strategic pillars: Policy & Influence; Trade & Export; Investment, Innovation & Technology; and Talent & Careers.

This announcement comes as the beauty industry continues to thrive, with awareness of its influence on the UK’s creative and cultural footprint increasing, and, its economic impact growing four times faster than the wider economy.

The organisation is set to host its sixth British Beauty Week this October, with brands and businesses activating under the theme of ‘Future of Beauty’, bringing together the brightest thinkers in innovation, technology and more.

It has also launched its UV Safety Initiative in recent months which is the first cross-industry collaboration dedicated to improve and increase messaging surrounding UV safety and provide evidence on the topic to policymakers and fellow business leaders to spearhead positive change. This work comes as the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Beauty & Wellbeing has launched its first inquiry into UV safety in Westminster.

These new appointments, alongside its 70-strong existing Advisory Board, will drive these initiatives forward whilst also supporting the Council’s overarching aim of raising the reputation of the sector.

On the announcement, Millie Kendall OBE, CEO of the British Beauty Council, said: ‘As the Council continues to grow, it is vital that we tap into the ever-evolving world of leading beauty professionals to ensure we develop our work in line with the true needs of the sector. I am delighted to welcome new members of the Board of Directors and Advisory Board who will undoubtedly be vital to our continued success in taking beauty to the next level.’
