Avon takes global stand against animal testing

by | Dec 20, 2019

We’re pleased to share the news that our patron, Avon, has become the first global beauty company* selling in China to stop all testing on animals across its entire portfolio of brands**.

Avon was one of the first cosmetics companies to end animal testing nearly 30 years ago and has pushed for positive change around the globe for three decades. Avon has worked hard in recent years to minimise product testing where required legally, and now they have achieved their goal of ending all animal testing for Avon products.

Legislation in China requires animal testing on products it designates as “special use” – such as sunscreens and deodorants. Avon does not believe animal testing is necessary to substantiate product safety. The company has been working to promote acceptance of alternative testing methods for many years with partners such as the Institute for In Vitro Sciences, FRAME and the Humane Society International. Avon will continue to work with these and other organisations to push for a cruelty-free beauty industry in the future.

Avon is confident this move forward will support its efforts to meet the expectations of its valued partners, customers and representatives across the world.

They will continue to work with their partners to push for regulatory change and greater acceptance of alternatives to animal testing.
