The Council supports the All Party Parliamentary Group for Beauty & Wellbeing to publish the first parliamentary report and recommendations on UV Safety.

The 2nd ‘Great British Beauty Clean Up’

The 2nd annual Great British Beauty Clean Up with over 55 brands taking part to promote sustainable practices and consumer behaviour. The British Beauty Council collaborated with MYGroup to launch a takeback scheme for hard-to-recycle items, such as used hair foils and makeup compacts.

First identifying the need for SIC code updates to segment the hair, beauty and spa sectors in 2018, followed by 8 years of lobbying by The British Beauty Council, the Government announced the recommended changes in the UK, with international changes made in 2025.

Secured the removal of the £135 de minimis tax exemption for overseas importers of low-value products to the UK, removing unfair competition.

British Beauty Week 2025

The British Beauty Week schedule included an industry day showcasing The Future Of Beauty, a Founder’s Network reception, the 4th Packaging Solutions Summit, and MP visits to high streets nationwide to highlight the economic impact of the sector. To close, the Treasury welcomed leading representatives from across the UK’s beauty industry to No11 Downing Street for a reception, showcasing the trailblazing entrepreneurs, SMEs, and innovators defining the future of the beauty industry.

The 3rd British Beauty Week started with a CEO Roundtable at No10 Downing Street. The schedule included a Plastic Solutions Summit, bringing together key innovators and business leaders to explore new alternatives and routes to scalability. A Trade and Export Breakfast with the Department for Business and Trade allowed businesses to network and gain insights into global trade. Rita Ora was appointed a Global Ambassador.
