The Meteoric Rise of CBD Skincare

by | Oct 15, 2019

Google searches for CBD skincare – and allied brands like Disciple, Revolution, Cupid and MGC Derma – have risen by 367%, showing that this year’s hot ingredient has hit the mainstream.

CBD, short for cannabidiol, is an oil derived from the cannabis plant – different to the part that creates the high associated with smoking weed. The benefits of it are plentiful – ranging from pain relief to insomnia, anxiety and arthritis.

The oil is a good skin moisturiser, especially recommended for dry and acne prone skin because it creates what’s called a ‘sebostatic effect’, which means that it balances sebum and skin oils – the catalysts for a series of issues that cause breakouts and acne.

You’ll find CBD products in our favourite online stores from Cultbeauty to Lookfantastic, and on the high street at The Drug Store, a new store in Marylebone dedicated to CBD products.
