The Beauty Beat debuts as London’s first festival dedicated to Women of Colour

by | Nov 2, 2022

The Beauty Beat is ‘a cool, chic and cleverly curated beauty festival dedicated to meeting the beauty needs of Women of Colour’

Taking place at Great Russell Street on the 3rd and 4th of December, the British Beauty Council and Instagram have collaborated with The Beauty Beat to produce London’s first beauty festival for Women of Colour.

Featuring some of the world’s biggest beauty brands – including NARS, Laura Mercier, bareMinerals and retail giant Boots – the event will boost the representation of WoC in the industry. Not only will visitors have the opportunity to purchase their best-loved beauty products, but they will also be able to attend four unique panel talks.

Members of the British Beauty Council’s Advisory Board are contributing and leading the discussions covering hair, makeup, tweakments and skincare.  Join Charlotte Mensah, Dija Ayodele and Dr Uchenna Oyoke as they explore the current trends and share unique insights into their areas of expertise.

On the event, Donna Dia, a luxury event specialist, says: ‘Over the course of my career, I have produced numerous exquisite events and while we, Women of Colour, may have been invited and on some occasions included, we have never been the focus.

I wanted to create an elevated beauty event where we are fully considered…This is my love letter to Women of Colour.’

What panel discussions are taking place at The Beauty Beat?

Saturday 3 December:

ACE THAT BASE: Make-up Matters

Undertones, shade matching and cut creases – the topics that matter will be put to the test by the make-up experts. Sharing sisterly tales of acing their base, demonstrating their skills and navigating ever-changing TikTok trends. Led by NARS.

SKIN DEEP: From Hydration to Hyperpigmentation

A discussion around skincare driven by some of the industry’s most formidable skincare experts. From dissecting beauty routines to dealing with skin conditions in a world where ‘perfect skin’ is the holy grail.

Sunday 4 December:

THE BIG CHAT: Curls, Coils & Kinks

Hair heroes undressed and reviewed for all to see with live demos from the brands that cater to our Pattern, regardless of type. All things moisture, pre-wash treatments, styling and so much more. Led by Pattern (?)

TWEAK IT OUT: No Fear, No Limits

Finally, the last session of the weekend will be a moment among friends. We will uncover the truths behind tweakments, needles, injections, implants and everything in between. No stone is too heavy to unturn – so ask away!

As if the festival wasn’t fantastic enough, organisers are offering exclusive brand discounts and an impressive goodie bag packed with full-sized products for each guest.
