‘Slow shopping’

Stylus recently published an interesting report – Retail For The Silver Economy – focusing on the need for retailers to be more mindful & inclusive of older consumers.

From automated checkouts to lack of seating, the report claims that this demographic have real reservations about the direction that retail is heading, despite many preferring to shop in store over online.

Change is afoot, however, with initiatives like Sainsbury’s ‘slow shopping’, & Stylus believe there’s more to come, with shopping environments becoming more ambient with fewer products on display (London’s new Coal Drops Yard being a case in point) to appeal to the less materialistic silver economy.
