L’Oréal Announce Acquisition of Takami

by | Dec 28, 2020

L’Oréal have announced the signing of an agreement for the acquisition of Takami Co, a japanese company which develops and markets products licensed by the skincare brand Takami.

L’Oréal will complete the transaction for the acquisition within the coming weeks.

What is Takami?

The Takami brand is a premium skincare brand which was founded in 1999, based upon the knowledge and expertise of the eponymous dermatological and aesthetic clinics established in the Omotesando district of Tokyo.

L’Oréal write that one of the brand’s Hero products is the Skin Peel pre-serum, which is referred to as the “Little Blue Bottle” by Asian women. The brand is mainly available in Japan, and in some Asian countries, with a strong consumer base in China. Currently, the brand is marketed through an omnichannel approach, with a large proportion of distribution being through e-commerce, specifically through subscription as well as selective distribution.

In 2019, the brand’s sales revenue was €50million, with growth continuing despite difficult market conditions due to the impact of COVID-19.

“Born from the expertise of the aesthetic and dermatological Takami clinics, our products provide the quality and the efficacy expected by the most demanding Japanese consumers. After 21 years of growth in Japan, we are thrilled to join the L’Oréal Group, the world’s leading beauty company, which will allow us to develop our brand thanks to its scientific and international expertise.” Yuji Okamura, President and Owner of Takami Co
