German Beauty Retailer Douglas to Close 500 Stores

German Beauty Retailer Douglas has revealed that it will be closing 500 of it’s stores, the majority of which will be in Southern Europe, alongside 60 of the company’s German stores.

Douglas is set to shut more than 20% of its bricks-and-mortar destinations in Europe. Around 2,500 jobs will be affected by this decision to close stores.

 

Douglas began a push to e-commerce, for 2020, Douglas reported sales of €1billion through its e-commerce platform, which is said to be one of the reasons behind the decision to move more of their operations online.
