SUMMARY:China Britain Beauty Festival
DESCRIPTION:Exporting to China has always been challenging for British beauty brands because of the need for animal testing. However\, on 3 January 2020\, the China State Council announced the approval of revised cosmetics regulations\, outlining requirements for animal testing exemption. Once the new regulations begin on 1 May 2021\, it will be possible for British brands with ethical considerations within their core values to access China’s huge market and consumer base\, which is expected to be worth around £50Bn by the end of this year. \nThe conditions for exemption remain a challenge\, and the British Government is close to a solution for British brands to comply with China’s new safety requirements. DESCRIPTION:The negative impact of the pandemic on students and those aspiring to a career in the beauty industry has been huge. Many in the industry have been furloughed or laid off\, while those studying for a career in the beauty industry have had to continue their studies online. Universities and colleges across the UK are planning to deliver a virtual curriculum\, with little if any face-to-face contact. This will make motivation more challenging\, particularly with less exposure to industry guest lecturers\, who normally provide inspiration to students during their studies. \nIn response to these issues\, the British Beauty Council is launching a podcast series hosted by our President of Pillar\, Education\, Elizabeth Barnett-Lawton\, featuring interviews with some of the biggest names in the hair and beauty industry to discover how they have got to where they are today.
