British Beauty Weekend: Facebook Insights

British Beauty Council Patron Facebook presented a series of insights at British Beauty Weekend on Thursday 29th October.

Sophie-Marie Faragher, Regional Solutions Partner at Facebook, presented ‘The Future of Beauty Commerce: From E-Commerce to Discovery Commerce’ at British Beauty Weekend 2020.

 

Sophie-Marie’s presentation covered where beauty commerce is today, with e-commerce being accountable for around 22% of retail in the UK in 2019. On top of this, the UK online beauty market grew 11.4% to £1.5billion in 2019. Facebook also provided insights for the future of beauty retail:

  • People use Instagram to discover new products
  • Moving to discovery commerce so that beauty consumers have increased connections when finding, experiencing and purchasing the products that are best for them
