#Beauty4Rights: The cross-brand collaboration protecting reproductive rights

by | Oct 28, 2022

US beauty brand Saie’s Every Body campaign for reproductive justice is one of the biggest cross-industry collaborations to date. Here’s everything you need to know about #Beauty4Rights

On Friday, June 24th 2022, the US Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, meaning that abortion is no longer protected at the federal level. Instead, individual states decide whether abortion is legal within their state boundaries.

Currently, out of the 50 states in America, only 20 have protected abortion rights. In an effort to expand much-needed reproductive freedoms, more that 35 beauty brands have pledged to donate 100% of proceeds from the sale of new, limited edition products.

Brands including Glow Recipe, e.l.f, Fable and Mane, and The INKEY List will make donations to the SisterSong Women of Colour Reproductive Justice Collective. The group has been campaigning for reproductive justice on behalf of BIPOC communities since 1997.

On the campaign, Founder and CEO of Saie says: ‘As a leader in this industry and a mother of two daughters, I can’t just sit back while our reproductive freedoms are taken away from all of us.

‘I’m so grateful all of these brands jumped at the chance to take action together. It’s our responsibility to use our platforms to advocate for the right to govern our own bodies and create incredible change for birthing people everywhere.’

The limited edition collection is housed in bright green packaging reminiscent of the ‘Marea Verde’, a mass Argentinian movement for reproductive rights which started back in 2003.

In the boxes you’ll find fragrance, skincare, makeup and candles that have been specifically made to protect every body’s reproductive freedom – because abortion rights are human rights.

You can shop the collection here and join the conversation using #Beauty4Rights.
