Think Ethnic ran an insightful feature on the Afro-Caribbean hair & beauty market a little while back, in which they revealed this impressive fact that “Afro-caribbean women are reported to spend six times more than other ethnicities on beauty and hair services.*”

They also noted that ethnic minorities in the UK have an estimated spending power of £300b for hair/beauty services, highlighting the exciting opportunities of new, diverse markets in this sector.

We’re well served by products here from brands including Africology UK, Aunt Jackie’s Curls & Coils, Dizziak London, Taliah Waajid Brand, Camille Rose Naturals, CURLS, SunnyIsleJBCO, Mixed Chicks Hair and many more.  But it looks like the salon side of the market has some catching up to do as this year Refinery29 report that out of 35k registered hair salons in the UK, 302 cater to Afro-Caribbean hair.

So hopefully we will get to see some exciting new developments in this area in 2019 .. keep us updated friends!
