The British Beauty Council was founded to represent the voices, opinions and needs of the British beauty industry – from hairdressing to cosmetics, cosmetic surgery, therapy and spa; in education and training; and from formulation to manufacture, supply, logistics packaging, design, retail and media.

We are a not-for-profit, inclusive organisation that works to engage politicians and business leaders about the value of British beauty to the national economy, and its key role in the UK’s creative and cultural character.

Our ambition is to ensure that the beauty industry is recognised and valued at all levels of government, throughout the wider economy and by consumers.


The British Beauty Council is made up of a small operational team, supported by a body of appointed members from across the beauty industry.

Our Executive Board oversees the running and governance of the British Beauty Council. The Advisory Board meets four times a year to support and advise on key issues facing the industry.

We have three pillar presidents who are responsible for driving forward our key strategy areas: reputation, education and innovation.

Affiliates are companies and organisations that represent specific areas of the beauty industry either in a trade body capacity, advisory or charitable capacity. We hold an annual affiliate round table to determine the requirements of the industry and to support these affiliates in getting traction on their initiatives. Affiliates are selected by the Executive Board and invited to join.


As a non-profit organisation, the British Beauty Council relies wholly on the support of our patrons to continue driving positive change in the beauty industry. From industry reports to educational programmes, patrons’ involvement is integral to ensuring our development and success.
