#24DaysOfGratitude: Hair and Beauty Charity

by | Dec 23, 2020

The British Beauty Council is proud to have so many amazing Charity Affiliates. As part of our #24DaysOfGratitude campaign, we are speaking to our Charity Affiliates about what they’re grateful for from 2020, as well as looking forward to the year ahead.

Samantha Grocutt, Hair and Beauty Charity

We spoke with Hair and Beauty Charity President Samantha Grocutt to find out more!

What are you grateful for this year?

That I work in such an encouraging and supportive industry where people are kind, generous and compassionate.

What work/achievements as a charity are you most proud of from 2020?

Being able to be a lifeline to those who really probably would have never needed to ask for help from a charity before COVID.  Knowing that we are there to help those in extreme times is very humbling.

What are you looking forward to in 2021 as a charity?

2020 has without been a challenge but it has also pushed us to the forefront of so many more brands and people in the hair and beauty industry.  It’ll be great to see where that awareness will progress and how we can keep the charity front of mind so we can help even more people.  We’ve been around for over 180 years and although 2020 was probably the hardest year, we will continue to help those in our industry for many years to come.

How can people support Hair & Beauty Charity going forward?

As the official professional industry, we need more professionals in hair, barbering and beauty to know we are there to help.  Awareness is key.  Yes, we need to raise funds so we can support our beneficiaries, but we also need more people to talk to friends and colleagues about what we do so we can expand our support network further.

We are so grateful to Caroline Hirons and Alexandra Forbes from Beauty Backed for their outstanding fundraising and brand building in 2020, it really was so unexpected but has enabled us to help so many more people.  We’ve had an increase of 143% requests for financial help this year so the Beauty Backed donations have been a lifeline.  I’d also like to thank everyone who has shared the great work the charity in the professional hair and beauty industry does to help those in financial need.
